Freight & Salvage — know before you go

Is Freight & Salvage wheelchair accessible (ADA access)?+

A wheelchair-accessible venue with an accessible entrance. Designated ADA seating is reserved for guests with disabilities and their companions (up to three companion seats can be requested at purchase). Assistive listening devices are available, and the auditorium has a hearing-loop system that transmits to t-coil hearing aids (sit within the looped area). For wheelchair space, no-stairs seating, or a service animal, call the box office at 510-644-2020 or email info@thefreight.org at least 24 hours ahead. ADA requests are first-come and subject to availability.

Does Freight & Salvage have seating, or is it standing room?+

A fully seated venue — no standing-room GA. For shows without premium seating, all non-ADA/non-reserved seats are general admission, assigned first-come as you enter. Arrive at doors (typically about an hour before showtime) to grab great seats in the side sections or just behind the premium rows. Music Maker-level members get advance seat reservations.

Is Freight & Salvage all ages?+

All ages and family-friendly — it's a non-profit traditional-music organization (the Berkeley Society for the Preservation of Traditional Music) with educational and youth programming. Specific per-show child-ticket rules can vary, so confirm with the box office.

What time do shows start and end at Freight & Salvage?+

Doors typically open about an hour before showtime; common patterns are doors 6pm/show 7pm or doors 7pm/show 8pm, varying by event. Headliners generally start on time. End times aren't published and vary by show.

Can I avoid ticket fees at the Freight & Salvage box office?+

Box office at 2020 Addison St (510-644-2020) is open 1–5pm Wed–Sun, plus from two hours before showtime on show days. Students with valid ID get up to 50% off, and Patron-level donors get $4 off per ticket. Buying directly from the Freight avoids third-party broker markups.

What are the bar, drink, and re-entry policies at Freight & Salvage?+

An on-site café serves coffee/tea, beer, wine, soft drinks, baked goods, and savory food most nights, with food trucks outside for some events. Re-entry and coat-check policies aren't documented — confirm with the venue.

Where can I park near Freight & Salvage, and how do I get there?+

Downtown Berkeley BART is about half a block away. The Center Street Garage is next door (open until ~1am except Sunday), with more downtown garages, lots, and metered street parking nearby. Arrive 30–60 minutes early.

Are there VIP or premium seating options at Freight & Salvage?+

Some shows offer Premium (Reserved) Seating — a higher-priced ticket for several reserved front-center rows. Music Maker members get advance seat reservations, and Patron-level donors get $4 off per ticket.
